Faithful is the Word, and as to these things, I desire that you strongly affirm that those believing God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men. Titus 3;8
What is “Doing Good”? I reckon it can include anything that helps another person or performing an act that brings glory to God. This then really leaves room for a lot of possibilities, so I challenge you to completing this 7 minute exercise:
Over the next 7 minutes I want you to write down a least 10 good things that you could do this week.
But coming up with the list is the easy part, what makes this exercise a little more difficult is having to put your list into practice. In the meantime, why not complete your own little survey and here’s a good question you could start with:
Ask people why they do not make a habit of doing good for others……
Let me tell you, you will get all sorts of answers. Here are some I have heard in the past:
It makes me feel awkward
I don’t know how to approach someone in need
I don’t have the skills
I lack the experience
I don’t have the wisdom to make a difference in someone else’s life…
Perhaps this may be true. How will you know if you don’t try? How will you get the experience if you don’t attempt to take action?
Doing something good involves a little sacrifice of your time and your energy. Sometimes it may feel awkward and sometimes it will require you to go beyond what you think your capable of. But in the end, the rewards that come from knowing you have done something good for someone else will far out weigh the awkwardness along with the satisfaction that you a being a part of God’s will.
So, over this festive period, I challenge you to give it a try.. Start with your list, start doing it to others, and see what rewards you get, not only for the people you help but for you. Taking action and doing good will change your life in ways you could not imagine…
Here are some pointers to help:
Do it with an attitude of not expecting anything in return ie. Don’t hold out your hand for a tip after you do something good
Don’t go on about the fun stuff you could be doing if you weren’t stuck helping someone
Always be polite…
Resist the urge, on completion of doing a good deed, to shout out “You owe me big time”….
Come back and leave a comment how you got on and be in with a chance to win some Bad Boy Turned Good products….
Merry Christmas and remember to “Let it Flow, Let it Flow, Let it Flow”.
