Champions are unmistakable because they are not motivated by trophies, belts, accolades or money but by a deep love that compels them to make radical choices marked by sacrifice, risk, humility and excellence. They are passionate people who are disciplined. They have realised that discipline on its own is never enough.

We are drawn to passionate people because there is something within us that knows we are meant to give our lives for something greater than ourselves and passionate love is the only force strong enough to drive us beyond ease and into sacrifice. Discipline is never enough.

When you first fall in love with another person, you are on fire for them, you are consumed by them and life those days full of passion. Yet as the days turn into weeks and into months this fire seems to burn out. Remember love is a choice, not just a feeling. You do not wake up every morning, look at your wife and say “today I choose to love you”, no, it’s your passion for that drives you to fulfil that promise you made to spend the rest of your life with her.

It is the same in our relationship with God. In the beginning we are on fire for Him, we are praying as much as we can, reading  the bible, your witnessing to people, you’re out evangelising and as in marriage the flames seem to die out…

Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lamp stand from its place—unless you repent…..rev 2:4-5

If you are in that place where you are performing out of duty, then it is time to re-ignite your passion and get back to how you were at the start of your relationship with God. Let God’s love stimulate ours to the point where passion comes naturally to us and we “abide in His love”
